It was during the French Revolution , the monks of the Abbey of Trappe left France to reach the village of Westmalle , 20 km from the city of Antwerp in Belgium. It was at this time that the Abbey of Westmalle is based. The beers brewed in this abbey are among the few Trappist beers .
